When you upload a production to GoldFynch, one would expect that the volume of the compressed production file would expand to take up a larger volume in your case after the files it contains have been processed. However, this might not always be the case, especially when dealing with load file productions.

When a production is imported, only the relevant files are made use of and processed as needed. In raw load file productions, there are often many files that are not used, or that are used and then discarded during the import process. Extracted text files in the TEXT folder, and the load files themselves are examples of such files.

Additionally, any TIFF or JPEG images are converted to OCRd PDFs, and the PDFs will have different file sizes than the original images.

This can result in uploaded productions actually having a smaller volume than the original production file.
