Production is the final step of eDiscovery, involving formatting your documents uniformly to present to opposing counsel. At times, it may be necessary to include your created tags as a part of your production. Since tags are considered work product in GoldFynch, they are not included in productions by default. That being said, there are a couple of options for including tags in your production:

Option 1: Stamp the tags into the documents, similar to a Bates stamp

Note that Bates stamps, tag stamps, and custom stamps can only be placed on non-native productions.

In Step 6 of the Production Wizard, GoldFynch gives you the option of using tags, and custom text, in addition to Bates Stamps, to stamp your documents. By including your tags as stamps on the documents, the tags will be easily visible in the margins when these files are downloaded and viewed outside of GoldFynch. That being said, if there are a lot of tags to be listed, this may not be the best option as there are only 6 stamp placement locations available.

Here's a guide on adding tag stamping to your production: Using and Placing Tag and Custom Stamps in Your Productions.

Option 2: Create a custom load file control parameter profile

Note that this will only apply to load file/database format productions.

If you would like to include a full list of applied tags within the load file of your production, you can do so by creating a custom load file control parameter profile and adding "tags" as a column value. Here's how to do so:

Step 1: Navigate to the "Productions" view by clicking on the printer icon found in the left navigation panel.

Step 2: Click on the "Control Parameters" tab.

Displaying "Control Parameters" tab, with indicators on the "Productions" and "Create New Profile" buttons.

Step 3: Click on the "Create New Profile" button.

Step 4: Enter a name for this profile.

Fields for both a profile name and selecting the profile template.

Step 5: Select an existing profile to use as a template for your new profile and then click "Create".

Step 6: Scroll down to the bottom of the parameters list and click "Add Field".

Highlighting "Add Field" button.

Step 7: Select "Tags" from the drop-down menu in the "Field" column (1). Once selected, you can also input a title (2) and select how these tags will be listed in the load file (3). In this example, we've selected "Uppercase, Comma Delimited List" but this choice is up to you.

Adding a custom field to the control parameter, and then selecting the field, title, and sorting format.

Step 8: Click "Save" at the top to save this custom control parameter profile. Once saved, this profile can be selected to be used in any load file/database format production.

Step 9: Navigate to "Step 3" of the Production Wizard and select "Load file/database format" as your type of production.

Step 10: After selecting options for native files and image representations, select your created Control Parameters profile from the drop-down menu at the bottom of the page.

Step 11: Proceed through Step 10 of the Production Wizard as normal, making any necessary selections.

Now, once your production has been generated, the tags will be included as metadata within the load file of the production. This metadata can then be used when the receiving party imports this production into an eDiscovery platform to either re-apply the tags, or display them in another way, depending on how that platform handles this information.

Here's an example of what these tags will look like as metadata within the load file of the production:

Please note that this is only one column in the load file, and depending on which fields were included in your custom load file control parameter profile, your load file may look different.
