Any case over 6 months old can be archived. To archive a case, click the archive button next to the case name. The archive button only becomes visible when the case is eligible for archiving (i.e. over 6 months old)

How to archive a case

Step 1. Open the case that you wish to archive

Step 2. Click on the "Archive..." button on the Overview screen (the default screen when you open a case)

Click on the archive button on the overview page

Step 3.  Click on the "Archive" button on the Archive screen overlay to archive the case

NOTE:

  • The case will be inaccessible to all users for a minimum of 48 hours
  • Archiving and unarchiving a case may take up to 24 hours and cannot be interrupted or canceled. While a case is being archived, it will not be clickable in your case listing and a notification will be displayed against it

Archiving options

There is currently one mode of archival, with another one to be introduced soon.

NOTE:
  • All prices listed below are prorated
  • GoldFynch does not take into consideration the volume of productions, derived files, or reports when billing the archive. As with the regular billing of case plans, the derived volume is included in the price and you will not need to pay extra for it.

Option 1: Standard archiving (faster restore time, should the need arise)

Storage method: The case and all associated data will be pushed into a nearline archive (a semi-online storage system)
Timeline: Restoration in 24 hours
Pricing: The monthly cost of maintaining an archived case is 50% of its standard monthly rate. For example, a 10GB case would be $35 per month for nearline archiving.

Option 2 - For organizations - Cold storage

Storage method: The case data and all associated data will be pushed into a cold storage archive
Timeline: Restoration will take roughly 72 hours
Pricing: Cost: $1.5/GB of the case plan. So a 10 GB case would cost $15/ month

Unable to archive your case?

When your case is not eligible for archiving then you can see the status 'Not Eligible' against the Archive option in the overview screen.

Click on the 'Check' button to see why the case is not eligible for archiving.

NOTE: Demo cases and cases that are less than six months old are not eligible for archiving.
